This would likely be a very welcome feature for most end-users, but wouldn’t this drastically limit the ability for Google, Amazon, etc to truly brand their experience ?
In these voice-driven experiences which have zero visual elements, the maker only has very few opportunities to create a brand/persona: the name, the voice tone, and the way the voice behaves/acts. If this was fully customizable, what would differentiate Alexa, from Cortana, etc?
It would seem like the long-term negative impact on the brand equity could outweigh the short term gains and fun of having the ability to change the call-name.
